Breckenridge, Colorado — The Breck Epic is a 6-day ultra-endurance mountain bike stage race held in the sprawling backcountry surrounding the mining town of Breckenridge, Colorado. Athletes contest 6 stages spending 4-8 hours on course each day, most of it over 10,000 feet. Stage 2 of the Breck Epic covered 42 miles and climbed 7,300 feet. A torrential downpour threatened in the early morning hours but fortunately passed by without incident, as this “hero” stage was full of climbing and singletrack. The front group, including Alex Grant, pounded out the miles and came through like a locomotive, putting serious time on the rest of the field.
By the end of the day, Alex Grant wearing Kore, C28 lens, finished at the line with a time of 3:11:36.
After six grueling days of riding, Alex finished only :45 seconds off the cumulative leader’s time.
